How does a person achieve a goal? First, you have to create it mentally. Envision it. That's Thought. Once you have a goal, you have to do something about it. That's Action. When you have a goal AND take action, you end up with an Outcome. It's not enough to THINK about it. You have to DO something about it, too! That's when you see results and get to your goal, whatever that may be. Create your outcome!!
Time to decide what you want to do for yourself for the next 3 months! That's 12 weeks, not 12 months! Commit to getting healthy, and being fit for the next 12 weeks. You can do it!
If you're trying to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you take in. That means eating in a more healthy way (fewer calories, but of better quality) and exercising! It's important to work on cardio fitness and strength training. And once you're losing weight, don't get discouraged or sidetracked by what the scale says. Look at how your clothes are fitting. Weight will seem to redistribute and your body will change. You'll lose inches and pounds.

I just wanted to remind you all that your workout is your own. I want you to do the best that YOU can do. Everyone has a different comfort level with what we do in classes. Zumba is supposed to be for eveyone. That means that in any given class, there will be someone who is a better dancer, a worse dancer, in better shape, in worse shape, skinnier, heavier, younger, older, etc. than you. IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! There is NO WRONG WAY to do Zumba.
I want you to keep moving regardless of how well you are doing the rhythms and steps. I'm almost always available after class to break down rhythms and steps if you feel you aren't picking it up in class. And guess what? Eventually you will get even the steps that drive you crazy. And perfection is impossible to achieve, so all we can do is our best. It's supposed to be FUN - Don't stress out about it!
And don't let anyone either directly or indirectly, make you feel that you aren't good enough. You are. When you show up to class, you are doing what so many people want to do, talk about doing, know they should do, but don't.

Flamenco!! You ALL rock! I love introducing a new rhythm and having you embrace it wholeheartedly. I've seen such improvement in all my classes - your confidence, and fitness levels and I love seeing you smile in class! Thanks for making it so much fun for me. See you soon!
A cumbia, a Bhangra song, and a Calypso song - all new and you did them so well! You should be proud of yourselves - and the newbies rocked! Can't wait for class next week...
